Bear Lake Hiking Trail is about an hour drive from my house which makes it easily accessible. Garden City Park Walkway A raised wooden walkway to the lake at Garden City Park. There are benches where you can relax. From HWY 18 turn south on Knickerbocker Road.

The trail is of moderate difficulty with some steep rock faces to ascend and descend.

Bear Lake Hiking Trail. Parking often fills by early morning. The Bear Lake Loop in Rocky Mountain National Park is located at the end of Bear Lake Road 9 miles from the turn-off at Highway 36. This trail begins on Forest Road 2N08 east of Knickerbocker Road between Snow Summit Ski Area and Big Bear Lake Village.

The Beginning of the Trail. Start and end trailheads. Bear Lake trail is in Rocky Mountain National Park about an hour and a half northwest of Denver and an hour from Boulder.

Here are some other trails without maps. This is probably my favorite day hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. You can walk a short distance from the parking lot to get to Bear Lake.
